Behind Flos’ iconic luminaires lies a bold vision of design, driven by experimentation and a strong commitment to responsible innovation.
Since 1962, the Italian brand has collaborated with some of the greatest names in international design, from the Castiglioni brothers to Philippe Starck, to create pieces that have become iconic.
Flos combines creative genius, technological mastery, and sustainable thinking. From the very beginning, it has innovated with unprecedented materials such as “cocoon,” and continues this pursuit today through LED lighting, circular design, and environmentally conscious approaches.
When it was founded in 1960, Flos, a visionary Italian company, set itself an extraordinary goal: to create luminaires in which the light bulb plays a central role. This innovative concept propelled the company towards new technologies and shaped its distinctive image. Among the many successes that have marked the history of lighting design, the Arco arched floor lamp, imagined and designed by the famous brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, occupies a prominent place. It paved the way for dozens of other revolutionary creations. Over the decades, many renowned designers have been put in the spotlight by Flos, allowing their talent to shine through in a multitude of luminous objects for the brand.
Synonymous with top-of-the-range and refined design, Flos is recognised worldwide as a leader in the residential and architectural lighting sector. From the outset, Flos called on the great masters of Italian design, such as the brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and Tobia Scarpa. The aim was to create industrial archetypes and revolutionary products that would soon become design icons, such as the Arco floor lamp.
